Leaking boiler — Could be the pump seal, a corroded pipe joint, or a crack in the heat exchanger. Location of the leak tells us what’s failed. Heat exchanger leaks usually mean replacement is the better option.

Repair or Replace?

If your boiler’s under 10 years old and it’s a decent make, repairs almost always make sense. Parts are available, the boiler’s got years left in it, and you’re spending hundreds instead of thousands.

Once you get past 12-15 years, it depends. If it’s a simple fix like a pump or thermostat, worth repairing. If it needs a heat exchanger or circuit board and it’s an old inefficient model, replacement might be the better call. We’ll be straight with you about what makes financial sense. No point patching up a boiler that’s going to fail again in six months.

Middlesbrough-Specific Issues

Can you repair boilers that other engineers have said are beyond fixing?

Sometimes, yes. We’ve sorted boilers that others have condemned, especially older models where parts are supposedly unavailable. We’ve got contacts for discontinued parts and sometimes we can retrofit newer components to keep an old boiler running. That said, we won’t keep a dying boiler on life support if it’s genuinely not worth it. We’ll give you an honest assessment — if it’s fixable economically, we’ll fix it. Do you repair boilers that are out of warranty?

That’s most of what we do. Manufacturer warranties typically run 5-10 years, and after that you’re on your own. We’ll repair any boiler regardless of age, as long as parts are available and the repair makes financial sense. We’re independent, so we’re not tied to warranty terms or manufacturer restrictions.
