For properties without central heating, or with systems beyond repair. I design the layout, choose the right radiators and boiler, and install everything from scratch.
Upgrading from a traditional system (tanks in the loft, hot water cylinder) to a modern combi boiler with a new boiler installation. Or replacing an old, inefficient system with one that properly heats your house.
Adding heating to extensions, conservatories, loft conversions, or rooms that were never warm enough. I connect to your existing system and size the radiator correctly for the space.
Wet underfloor heating systems for new builds, extensions or renovations. They work with most heat sources, including boilers and heat pumps.

The most popular choice for smaller homes. It heats water on demand, so there’s no hot water cylinder or tanks. Compact and efficient, with unlimited hot water, though the flow rate is limited, so it’s not ideal if several showers run at once.
Best for: 1-3 bed properties with 1 bathroom.
Heats water into a storage cylinder, so you have a reserve of hot water. Better flow rates for several taps and showers at once. Takes up more space than a combi.
Best for: Larger homes with more than one bathroom.
Air source and ground source heat pumps are becoming more popular, especially with government grants available. Running costs are lower than gas but installation costs more. They work best with larger radiators or underfloor heating.
Best for: Well-insulated homes, new builds, or people planning long-term.
How disruptive is it? I try to keep disruption to a minimum. Pipework can often run under floors or be boxed in neatly. Expect 2-3 days without heating during the installation, so spring or autumn is the best time to schedule it.
Do you handle building regs? Gas boiler installations need to be notified to Building Control. I handle this as part of the job.
Can you hide the pipework? Yes. I can run pipes under floors, through walls, or box them in. Surface-mounted pipework is quicker and cheaper, but less tidy.
What about smart controls? I can install smart thermostats (Hive, Nest, etc.) as part of the system. They’re not essential, but many people find them useful.

Yes. Removing and disposing of the old radiators, pipework and boiler is included in my quotes.
Yes. I fit smart thermostats like Hive, Nest and Tado as part of new systems or as standalone upgrades. They let you control the heating from your phone and can help cut your bills by heating only when needed.
For heat pumps, yes. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers £7,500 towards an air source heat pump installation. For standard gas boilers, grants vary by local authority. I can tell you what’s available.
