Our Central Heating Services

New System Installation

For properties without central heating or with systems beyond repair. We design the layout, select appropriate radiators and boiler, and install everything from scratch.

System Upgrades and Conversions

Upgrading from a traditional system (tanks in the loft, hot water cylinder) to a modern combi boiler via a new boiler installation. Or replacing an old inefficient system with something that actually heats your house.

Additional Radiators

Adding heating to extensions, conservatories, loft conversions, or rooms that were never warm enough. We tap into your existing system and size the radiator correctly for the space.

Underfloor Heating

Wet underfloor heating systems for new builds, extensions, or renovations. Works with most heat sources including boilers and heat pumps.

How Much Does Central Heating Cost?

ProjectTypical Cost
Add 1 radiator to existing system£300 - £450
Add 2-3 radiators (extension)£700 - £1,200
System conversion (conventional to combi)£2,000 - £3,000
Full system, small property£2,500 - £4,000
Full system, 3-bed house£4,000 - £6,000
Full system, larger property£6,000 - £10,000+
Underfloor heating (per m²)£50 - £80

These are guide prices. Actual cost depends on:

  • Size of property and number of radiators needed
  • Type of boiler selected
  • Complexity of pipework runs
  • Quality of radiators chosen
  • Whether floors/walls need lifting/chasing

We provide detailed, itemised quotes after a site survey. No surprises.

Types of System

Combi Boiler Systems

The most popular choice for smaller homes. Heats water on demand - no hot water cylinder or tanks needed. Compact, efficient, and provides unlimited hot water (though flow rate is limited, so not ideal if multiple showers run simultaneously).

Best for: 1-3 bed properties with 1 bathroom.

System Boilers

Heats water into a storage cylinder, so you have a reserve of hot water. Better flow rates for multiple outlets. Takes up more space than a combi.

Best for: Larger homes with multiple bathrooms.

Heat Pumps

Air source or ground source heat pumps are increasingly popular, especially with government grants available. Lower running costs than gas but higher installation cost. Work best with larger radiators or underfloor heating.

Best for: Well-insulated homes, new builds, or those planning long-term.

Common Questions About Installation

How disruptive is it? We try to minimise disruption. Pipework can often run under floors or be boxed in neatly. Expect 2-3 days without heating during installation, so we recommend scheduling for spring or autumn.

Do you handle building regs? Gas boiler installations need to be notified to Building Control. We handle this as part of the job.

Can you hide the pipework? Yes - we can run pipes under floors, through walls, or box them in. Surface-mounted pipework is quicker and cheaper but less tidy.

What about smart controls? We can install smart thermostats (Hive, Nest, etc.) as part of the system. They’re not essential but many people find them useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does installation take?

Adding radiators: 1 day. Full system in 3-bed house: 3-4 days. Larger or complex installations: up to a week.

Can you add radiators to my existing system?

Yes - this is straightforward as long as your boiler has sufficient capacity. We’ll check during the survey.

Do you remove the old system?

Yes - removal and disposal of old radiators, pipework, and boiler is included in our quotes.

Can you install smart thermostats?

Yes - we fit smart thermostats like Hive, Nest, and Tado as part of new systems or as standalone upgrades. They give you control from your phone and can help reduce heating bills by heating only when needed.

Is there any grant funding available?

For heat pumps, yes - the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers £7,500 towards air source heat pump installation. For standard gas boilers, grants vary by local authority. We can advise on what’s available.
